Claude Piron

A very important Esperanto writer who wrote many books in basic language for beginners as well as high quality novels. Two of Piron's works can be found in lernu!, namely: Gerda Disappeared! and Reality or Fantasy.

Piron has a special talent for using beautiful language without a lot of the difficult words because he uses many compound words based on ordinary words with standard suffixes. In his book "La Bona Lingvo" he explains how and why he does this.

Piron was born in 1931 and worked for the UN as a translator for many years in New York City. Later he became a professor of psychology in Switzerland, where he now lives. Piron also worked for the "World Health Organization" in many countries and speaks many languages, including French, German, Spanish, English and Chinese. When he writes books and articles, however, he feels that he can express himself most freely in Esperanto.
