Introduction

Juna Amiko is a charming printed magazine that appears four times each year. It has a full-color cover and many pictures. It is edited and printed in Hungary, but has readers in about 50 countries. The editor has a network of regular contributors in 15 countries. All articles are carefully checked by a member of the Academy of Esperanto. Juna Amiko primarily targets those who already know the basics of Esperanto, but can't find readings in sufficiently easy Esperanto.

The magazine has various parts and columns, that fulfill the needs of various groups of people:
  • Youths and adolescents who are learning Esperanto in schools or clubs.
  • Younger children in school groups or Esperanto families
  • Beginners of any age, whether learning in groups or alone.
  • Esperanto teachers, who can enrich their lessons with practical, high quality readings and games suitable for group use.

  • Texts in the magazine use only the 1500 most common or useful word roots. A word outside of that word list will receive a clarification. To make it easier to understand, we sometimes use hyphens to separate word roots from their suffixes or to separate compound words into their components.
